Sorry, can't think of a title for this thing today. Not really in much of a mood to think of one either. Sitting on the couch right now, watching Arkansas basketball, the Islanders hockey game starts soon, and soon it will be dinner time. Nasty thunderstorm this morning kept me from getting everything done early that I wanted to get done, so the day was shot to hell by the time I got moving. But it's all done now, so I can relax tonight.
Tomorrow, I have to work (from home...every Sunday), but then I'm on VACATION! Woohoo! So much time, and absolutely NOTHING to do! With Ann being out of work, no extra income to go anywhere. We did get to go to a movie last night, because Anthony got to stay at a friend's house. Went to see Seven Pounds with Will Smith. It's not bad, but a little difficult to figure out. That's all I'll say, in case any of my loyal readers want to see it. I rate it *** 1/2 out of ***** (that's 3 1/2 out of 5 for those that don't feel like counting stars).
Go Hogs! They're up by 30 heading to the end of the first half.
Go Islanders! Game starts in 15 minutes.

Merry Christmas
Good morning all, and like it says above: Merry Christmas!
It's a little before 7am CST and I'm sitting here, on the couch, ALONE! Nobody wants to wake up and open presents. I still love Christmas morning, even though I'm 39 years old and this year not getting anything LOL! I had to fight to not get anything actually. This year, so far, I've gotten a digital camera, a laptop, and a few teeth pulled. I am grateful for it all, and received all of my gifts already, so this time it's about the rest of the family. Now all they have to do is WAKE UP!
It's not a big Christmas this year, but every year we get something big for Anthony. This year we got him the World Tour for Wii. However, this year I got a little tricky. He has a box that contains the game of Clue, as well as two other video games. Well, Clue is not wrapped on its own, but it's in a firelog box along with the two games that are wrapped in something else. We told him that box is his one big gift. He wanted the World Tour or an IPod. This box is not the size of either. I can't wait to see his face. Hopefully I can get some good pictures.

Twelve Years of Christmas...
Today is December 23rd, 2008. It has been 12 years since my daughter, Danielle, has blessed me with her presence. She was born December 21st, 1996. For those that are not that good at math, that made her 2 days old. She was 1 1/2 to be exact, as she was born in the evening, and died in the morning. I was only able to hold her twice. One time was in the hospital a short time after her birth, as they allowed her out of the incubator, or whatever the hell it was she was in, to be in my arms, but I had to hold an air tube very close to her face to give her oxygen. The next time was after she died, and I sat in a small room holding her, crying my eyes out, wondering why I got there too late to save her like I had the two times before.
She was born at 22 weeks gestation, and the doctors gave her no chance. But she was a fighter, just like her paternal grandfather. She improved rather than regressed, and she was transferred from the hospital to Stony Brook Medical Center. Each time they had to run a test, they would call and tell me "if she doesn't show improvement, we have to take her off support" and each time I would fly to the hospital (by car) to be there. I would see her before the test, talk to her, and when the test was done, she was good and they left her on.
The third test was not the charm. They couldn't wait for me, and I didn't get there fast enough. When I got there, she was off support and gone. Just that quick. I sat there for what felt like forever holding her, crying. Nurses came over to try to comfort me, but it didn't help. I couldn't even feel bad for other parents who had children in there fighting for their own lives. All I could feel was a strange emptiness that wasn't there before.
Yes, I have a son who is going to be 15 next month, and I love him to death. I owe him more than he will ever realize. The loss of my daughter caused my marriage to deteriorate, caused my liver to ALMOST deteriorate, as all I did for awhile was work, drink way too much JD, and gamble. It cost me a house because I just didn't care about anything. I was hurting. It took me 5 years to get my family back. Planning not to screw that up again.
To anyone who has lost a loved one, I sympathise. But look at it this way. You got to spend time with the ones you loved and lost. You had the chance to grow with them, in front of them. I had all of 36 hours. Think of the good. Otherwise you will end up a miserable bastard, which is the way I am feeling today.

Quiet Saturday
Not much going on, but wanted to keep all of my loyal readers updated (thank you Beth =) for giving me a reason to blog). Managed to sleep until about 8:30 this morning, which felt GREAT! I haven't slept that late in forever. Got to enjoy a nice hot cup of coffee before going out to pay my car loan. Oooooooh, and when I was there, I saw a gorgeous red soft-top 2002 Firebird. The payments are only $3 more per week than what I'm paying now, and being my loan balance is under a threshhold (sp? -- ah who cares) they could have worked with me on a trade. I thought about it for 3.4 seconds, then decided not to make the move. I have a good car (11 years old, no power windows) that gets 26 miles to the gallon, has not given me any problems, and gets me from point A to B (and sometimes C) with no issues. Why would I get rid of it? Because I absolutely LOVE firebirds. And this one was LOADED with a great sound system. But, not the time. When I am ready another one will be there. Hell, they're there all the time LOL!
Also got my Christmas tree up today. It's pre-lit, which is nice. Although I like the lights I have. They are multi-colored, and I can set each strand to blink differently. Watching my tree blink last year would make you nauseus. But we enjoyed it.
Just finished watching the Islanders lose AGAIN! I really have to find a new team to root for. Come on Arkansas. We finally got an NCAA Division 1 hockey team at the University, now build an arena for a PRO hockey team. Even minor league, like we have with the baseball team. Problem is, I don't think they have the formula for ice here. Can anyone send the recipe?
Weather here has been crazy, too. Today it was in the 50s (so they say...I was out, it was chilly!). Then by Monday morning it will be 7 degrees. SEVEN! Not 70, but SEVEN. That's NUTS! But on Christmas, it will be in the 50s again. They say if you don't like the weather, wait about 20 minutes. No joking about that. It holds true.

OK, what to do now...?
When I was a teenager, I had a couple of people I would call my very best friends. I will not use their real names to protect their privacy. I will say one was male, and one was female. Well, the female and I haven't spoken in awhile, but it's all good. We knew when our time to part had come, and we said goodbye, promised to try to keep in touch (although that didn't work out so well). The male friend, however, basically walked away. No note, no phone call, nothing. There were "situations" that caused him to leave, and this part I understand. I don't know if I understood it then, only being 19 at the time, but I've matured, so looking back I can see why things happened the way they did. But because of this, I have been unable to totally put my trust in anyone anymore. I don't keep friends as close as I used to. I tell people alot, but I don't let myself get close. I've been burned a few times, mostly by family who are pieces of ... well, you get the idea ... but I always believed that true friends were forever, even with time and distance between them.
Well, the male friend, after 20 years, is back in view. He seems to be doing very well, and I am happy for him. He followed his dreams, made them a reality, something I cannot say for myself. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy with my situation, but I know things could be better for myself and my family, and I am working towards that every day. And every day it gets a bit closer.
The thing that bugs me is that I would like to tell this person how pissed I am at them, how hurt I was when he disappeared, leaving me to find the world alone, without a friend at my side to help me through the darkness. He and I were always like that, and it was much more like it after we graduated high school. Everyone else was gone. They went to college, joined the military, or just plain moved away. But he and I were the constants. We stayed, to work and play on Long Island. Then he was gone, just like that.
I wish I knew how to handle the fact that we have contact again. Eh, I guess I should just be an adult about it, let the past be the past, understand the circumstances, and move on. Start fresh right?

Tuesday...
It's early afternoon, and my work has been done for about 2 1/2 hours. Apparently, they are paying me to sit here and wait for something to come in, because I've gone after everything that I was supposed to already. Later today I'm getting the stitches removed from my mouth, then my son has his winter school concert. Hopefully I'll be able to make that. Not sure how long I'll be at the dentist office, though it shouldn't be long unless he's backed up.
The rest of the week it's supposed to warm up. Today they say it should hit 31, but I don't know if we'll make that. Then up to the 50s by the end of the week, but watch for next Sunday night/Monday morning for another cold front. Son of a sea captain! I moved south to get AWAY from the cold. It's warmer where I am from than where I am. This sucks!!
Just looking at the schedule at work for the rest of the week, and I may want to bring a pillow and blanket in. Tomorrow is normally a slow day, so hopefully someone may invite me to play beanbag toss (cornhole!). Thursday have a couple of BS meetings that I really don't want to nor need to attend. Friday we are having something out of the office for a few hours. That stinks. I can't sneak out early LOL! Ah well, it should be over by 3pm, maybe can go straight home from there.

Joke of the day...
Old Timer Sex
This is too funny to be dirty - enjoy!
The husband leans over and asks his wife, "Do you remember the first time we had sex together over fifty years ago? We went behind the village tavern where you leaned
against the back fence and I made love to you."
"Yes", she says, "I remember it well."
"OK," he says, "How about taking a stroll around there again and we can do it for old time's sake?"
"Oh Jim, you old devil, that sounds like a crazy, but good idea!"
A police officer sitting in the next booth heard their conversation and, having a chuckle to himself, he thinks to himself, I've got to see these two old-timers having sex against a fence. I'll just keep an eye on them so there's no trouble. So he follows them.
The elderly couple walks haltingly along, leaning on each other for support aided by walking sticks. Finally, they get to the back of the tavern and make their way to the fence. The old lady lifts her skirt and the old man drops his trousers. As she leans against the fence, the old man moves in.. Then suddenly they erupt into the most furious sex that the policeman has ever seen. This goes on for about ten minutes while both are making loud noises and moaning and screaming. Finally, they both collapse, panting on the ground.
The policeman is amazed. He thinks he has learned something about life and old age that he didn't know. After about half an hour of lying on the ground recovering, the old couple struggle to their feet and put their clothes back on. The policeman is still watching and thinks to himself, this is truly amazing, I've got to ask them
what their secret is.
So, as the couple passes, he says to them, "Excuse me, but that was something else. You must've had a fantastic sex life together. Is there some sort of secret to this?"
Shaking, the old man is barely able to reply, "Fifty years ago that wasn't an electric fence."

What a day!
Well, Anthony made it through the night with the baby. He was up 2x during the night with the child, and took care of it all on his own. I am proud of him. And he realized how difficult it is to take care of a baby. So, this morning the baby woke up again, Anthony took care of it, and then I took him to school. Wouldn't you know it? The baby does NOT like car rides...or it could just be my car. On the way to school, same as yesterday when I picked Anthony and the baby up, it cried. I pulled over so Anthony could change the diaper (that's what was wrong), then got him to the school. He turned the baby in, and hopefully he will get a good grade.
I also decided today to work from home. My mouth was hurting, I could barely open my mouth enough to drink a cup of coffee, so going to work was not an option. My boss was really cool about it. He knows if I'm working from home, I have a good reason, and he knew I got 3 teeth pulled. Plus he knows I don't just "sit" when I'm working from home. I actually do my work all day.
Anyway, Ann was at work and called me about 9:30am telling me she would be home "soon", then told me she was fired. There was some BS and the boss (who said it was "difficult" because Ann is her friend...yeah, friggin' RIGHT!) used that to release her. Poor Ann was so upset. She got home and cried a bit. I calmed her down and we talked about it, then she got mad. Can't blame her for that. She knows it's BS that she got fired. So do I, and she won't let me talk to the ***** that fired her.
Two weeks before Christmas, and we're back to one income. Woo friggin hoo! We have the majority of shopping done, which is good. Unfortunately I got the three teeth pulled yesterday and have to make the second half of the payment next week. So I'm guessing the majority of Christmas shopping became ALL the Christmas shopping.
She was planning on leaving there soon anyway, but on HER terms, and with another job lined up before she left. That plan is now shot to hell. But with the experience she gained at this job (there 16 months -- and this is the first time she's ever been fired from a job), she should be able to get another one fairly easily. And she wants to stay in childcare, has very good references, so it should be OK. Now just have to hope places are hiring.
Anthony came home today from school, he's exhausted. He actually asked one of his teachers if the holiday vacation could start today. He wants those 2 weeks off LOL! Can't blame him. Tomorrow he will be able to sleep, but I won't. Have to pay my car loan (5 1/2 months to go, and I pay weekly so it's not as exciting as it sounds), and I'll do the grocery shopping as well, being I'll already be out.
Well, that's it for now. TTFN!

New addition (for one night only!)...
This is a picture of the happy (HA! HA!) daddy...
Anthony is taking FCSI in Junior High and a project they have it to take home a baby for a night. They have to take care of it, soup to nuts. Let's hope he keeps it in his pants for a LONG time, because he is NOT ready to be a daddy.
I guess Ann and I can take some blame for this, not giving him any siblings that stuck around long enough for him to be a big brother and see the things you need to do to take care of a baby. God decided not to bless us with more than one in the house and 2 spirits in our hearts.
Today's another day...
It's early for me to post, but I don't know if I'll be online this evening. Today I'm getting 3 more teeth extracted. It is only a few hours away, and I'm actually excited about it. My teeth, as I believe I've stated before, are BAD! Absesses (sp?) are a pain in the butt. So, the more I get pulled, the less pain I'm in. I've been on antibiotics for the past 3 weeks for it too.
Tonight is also the company holiday party. I had no intention of going. Why? Well, I'm not the most social person in the world, I am not "close" to any of my co-workers, to say that I'll be comfortable hanging and talking with them most of the night. Frankly, there are some that I can barely tolerate being around AT work, and I get paid to have to tolerate it. The holiday party is a free thing. It would be way too easy for me to tell someone to take a long jump off a short ledge.
Christmas shopping in my house has begun, at least mine has. I bought a few things for my son, and last night bought something for the wife. Just one of a few things for her too. We also bought a tree over the weekend, that I may put up this weekend if the mood strikes. Now, with College Football done for a few weeks, I may just do it. We shall see. If I do, I'll take pictures and post for you to see the newest addition to the household.

Saturday evening and...
Here I sit. I am watching the end of the SEC Champ Game and am disappointed. I am also watching the NY Islanders game, and am happy. Just a full range of emotions. My head hurts a little, which is a warning of a migraine on the way. My back hurts, which is indication of a weather change on the way. But it's the weekend, and I have 36 more hours to get over it all before it's back to work. Luckily, I have a LONG vacation coming. Most in my company are taking vacation the week of Christmas. Not me! Nope, I'm taking the week of New Years. Why? Because I can't get the week of Christmas LOL. And I like a quiet office. Nobody there, nobody to piss me off. Good trade off.
Had a cornhole tournament at work yesterday. We had 10 teams, and my partner and I were up in the 5th game of the 1st round. There were 4 great matches before us. Play went back and forth, some games lasted quite a few minutes. Then it was our turn. We lost in 4 turns, it was that quick. Other team got stupid lucky on us. We were ahead the entire time until that round, then it was over ... 1 minute 12 seconds! What's worse, is I'm not the greatest when I lose. Oh well!

Wacky Wednesday
Well, last night I got to watch some Danny Phantom on DVR. Unfortunately I fell dead asleep and forgot to shut it off, so it ran through about 6 episodes before I finally woke up about 4am to shut down the taping and shut off the TV. It's not so bad, but instead of playing "all new" I have to play each individually. What can I tell you, I'm lazy.
While I was laying in bed, before sleep, I started thinking about my mom, and those that she knew and left behind. One of those that came across my mind was her girlfriend, Celia. This morning, her daughter, Christine, appeared and asked for a friend request on Facebook. God does work in strange and mysterious ways. I'm glad though.
Ann is starting to get over her cold. I say starting, because she's not quite there yet, but it's definitely better than it was last night. Also, I finally got our bed fixed. My original plan was (and still is, eventually) is to buy plywood 5-ft 1/2 inch by 2-feet, one inch thick, and "line" the frame of the bed to hold the mattress up and not have it collapse to the floor on one side anymore. Well, a friend of mine at work was saying she and her husband had problems with THEIR bed, so they got rid of the bed and have the boxspring and mattress on the floor. No more problems. Well, I brought that idea home to Ann, expecting to hear "You want me to sleep on the floor?!?!?" Instead I heard "Hey that'll work. No more worries about the bed falling out in the middle of the night." So, Anthony and I took the bed apart, put it in the garage, and will sleep without any worries tonight. I still plan to fix the bed, but at least right now there's no absolute rush to do so.
With 6 minutes left, Penn St is up on Ga Tech 77 to 68 in Men's Basketball. Only reason I'm watching is because the Arkansas game is in halftime LOL!
That's about it for now. More another day, I promise.

What's in a Tuesday???
Well, it's late evening here now. Sitting around watching the news, chatting with a friend on Yahoo! and debating on when to go to bed. I'm not really tired, but I am restless. I am "proud" to say I tape "Danny Phantom" from NickToons, and it helps me sleep. I could go to bed and put those on. My wife is sick, so she's been sleeping on the couch (don't ask, it's backwards to me too!). I could start playing back "Eli Stone" but I don't feel like watching it tonight. TV has become so bad this week that I save the shows to watch the next night to get through until bedtime. Strange, but true. I warned you at the top of the page "Steaming pile of ..." If you made it this far, well, I'll try to make the next paragraph better.
Something I heard on the news today...
"The neighborhood is good. Well, except for the drugs. And the prostitution. And the speeding. And you have to watch your stuff so it doesn't get stolen. But it's a good neighborhood."
For the sake of the neighborhood in question, and for fear that the US may disown that neighborhood, I won't say where it is. I WILL say, however, it's not my town. So I'm still happy where I live. Have fireplace, will stay home nights.
Tomorrow at work is going to be sloooooooow. The good thing is, I created a couple of new reports for the ice cream business, so hopefully I can get a little more involved with that and it will keep me busy a little longer than usual for a Wednesday. Otherwise, I leave early and do the "AWA" thing (alternate work arrangements --- work from home). Sounds more professional doesn't it?
Well, that's about it for now. The news is almost over, so I'll let my wife go to sleep in the quiet, and I'll go be noisy with the TV in another room.

Nothing much...
Realized haven't put anything here in a few days, and didn't want you to worry. I'm still here, it's just been a very busy week. Worked Monday through Wednesday at work, then put in 4 1/2 hours at home on Thursday (yes, Thanksgiving), plus another 2 hours on Friday. Didn't go shopping Friday morning. Nobody had anything that I wanted, so I was able to sleep in (slept until 7:15am WOOHOO!). Yesterday, I actually planned on cleaning the house, going through my son's room and getting rid of things that he does not play with anymore, things that don't fit, etc. By the time I was done with work, I sat on the couch and didn't want to get up.
Today I'm hoping to get away for a couple of hours, but not positive on that yet. I've been so addicted to Yahtzee on Pogo lately that I hate leaving my laptop.
Well, that's it for now. Have a great weekend all!

Two-fer Tuesday
Today feels like it's happening in two parts. The morning, which I thought was going to be crazy busy, ran very smoothly. The afternoon (which it is now), which I thought was going to be a lot of RUSH RUSH RUSH is fairly tame. I have a meeting in 15 minutes, which should finish off my back (chairs in the meeting room not the most comfortable, even for a shorty like me).
After work, I get the pleasure of going to Wal-Mart, on the grocery side. Need to get some of the fixin's for Thanksgiving. You know, the perishable stuff you don't want to buy too early, but the same stuff you'll be fighting with others over at the store because they thought the same thing. The beauty of being in Arkansas, but from NY, is that you're not afraid to tell someone to get their hands off your apple. By the time they figure out what I mean, I have the pie and am at the register. HA!
The wonderful thing about holidays that fall on a Thursday is that I get Friday off. Being it's the end of the month, I'm usually covering work. Not this month. Someone else is doing it. I don't plan on turning on my phone unless necessary either. Instead, going to do a few things that need to get done. First, clean the house through and through. Throw a lot of stuff out, vacuum, dust, scrub the floors and the bathrooms, maybe put in a new garbage disposal in the kitchen if I can figure it out. YEAH, I know it's easy. You didn't see the last time I tried it though. But, I dye grass. Just going to get things done that need to be taken care of. Who knows. Maybe I'll get in some Christmas shopping (not on Friday morning, nothing on sale that I can see that I want).
If I don't get to talk to you again until it's too late this week, have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Child's Play
I don't understand children anymore. And I think I am going to give up trying. My son has a friend, we'll call her "A" (must be something about that initial). Well, a few months ago, she TOLD my son that they were boyfriend/girlfriend, and even asked him out. Well, I decided to let him go on this "date" and at the end of it, she broke up with him. He was upset, but I talked to him and he seemed to be OK with it. There are plenty of young ladies out there, and he's got plenty of time to meet them. Well, about a month or so later, "A" called and they were friends again. He's even been to her house a couple of times. Well, she called today and asked if he could come over, and of course they are friends, so he went. Well, about an hour in, she told him they were no longer friends. His response? "Whatever" is what he told her. He came home, I could obviously see he was upset, but again, I talk to him and try to convince him it's OK. He has other friends. They have removed one another from their MySpace page, which works for me.
I've seen some of the stuff that this girl posts, and I am ashamed that they allow teenagers to access this site, post such vulgarity, and there are no monitors (or PARENTS!!) to remove it.
To my son, Anthony, whom I respect as a person and trust his judgement to do the right thing, I say good riddance to bad rubbish. He is so much better off without this girl. I understand she may have some personal issues, but now she has screwed with this kid twice, and he will be plenty smart enough to not let her do it a third time.

Wednesday wonders...
I made it through the day, and I wonder how? I was training someone this morning the best I could, but all of the talking I had to do made my face swell and my jaw sore.
There is a company party tonight at a local club, but I wonder why I didn't go? Probably because my mouth is sore so I can't eat much, and I'm on medication so I can't drink.
My wife's nephew (my nephew-in-law) is getting married in April, 2009 in PA, but I wonder why we are not going to make it? Probably going to cost too much, so we will save the money and send our best wishes along with a gift for the *cough* happy couple.
For that matter, I wonder why they call newly married couples "the happy couple". Give them a couple of years ... if they are still smiling, THEN call them happy. Right now, just call them newlyweds.

Dentist...
Well, the swelling is worse today than it was yesterday. And the whole right side of my face from under my eye down below my chin onto my throat is numb, like someone injected me with novacaine. Unfortunately, the pain is still IN my mouth, so the novacaine is not working. HA HA. I went to the dentist, and he's going to pull 3 more teeth. The cost isn't as bad as I thought it would be, and it will hopefully be less once the insurace decides to pay the FIRST bill and the dental office can get a better idea of what I will owe. They gave me "worst case scenario" which I can live with, even being so close to Christmas. I am ending up with 2 Christmas presents this year...(1) laptop (2) pulled teeth. For Valentine's Day, I should be ready for dentures LMAO! Ow! Ow! Ow! Hurts when I move my face. It only takes only 4 muscles to give someone the finger, so I'll probably just flip myself off instead of trying to smile.
Ann and Anthony are at Anthony's school tonight. There is a math/literacy meeting that they had to attend. After that, Ann will pick up my prescription and they will get something to eat. I already ate, so don't worry. Frosted Flakes aren't bad when they get all soggy. Don't even have to chew them. Soon enough won't be able to chew much of anything. Will be gumming all my food :) OW! *Flipping self off for smiling!*
Right now I'm watching rasslin' on WWE 24/7. Starrcade '92 featuring Battle Bowl. OK, I'm kinda watching. I glance up every now and again. That's the beauty of being able to type without having to look at the keys or the screen.
I don't think I got the job that I interviewed for last week. Actually not sure WHO got the position. But I believe if it was me, I would have heard by now. That's OK though. I'm very happy in my current position, and still have more to learn, other categories to work with, new CFR's and CBM's to deal with. Plus, I have not applied to college. Will do it someday in 2009. This is a promise. If I don't, print this out and shove it in my face. *Flipping self off again so don't smile and hurt myself*
Well, that's about it for today. Going to start paying attention to the poker game I am playing online. TTFN!

Mondy Night Pain...
OK, I've put it off, and now it has come back to haunt me. I have an extremely painful sore in my mouth where I still have a few teeth left. The teeth aren't any good, I already know this, but the thought of spending all of that money right before Christmas is not the biggest thrill in my life. Now I don't think I have a choice. I have an eval appointment tomorrow, hopefully the doctor can do something with the egg-size swell on the side of my face, and ease some of the pain. Then I'll find out how much it will be to pull the teeth and decide from there. Of course, I will have to get them pulled, and if I wait until next year, my deductible starts over. Will see what happens tomorrow, unless I take a sharp object and do something real stupid before then. If I wake up at 2am looking for ice like I did last night, this is a possibility.

Saturday...Saturday... (Elton John)
Good day one and two to this edition of my blog. In case you haven't figured it out yet, it's Saturday...and if you haven't figured that out, I want a double of whatever you're drinking! It's a quiet day here. Did my grocery shopping this morning, had some breakfast, and sat to watch The Simpsons Movie with Anthony. The show I have watched maybe once or twice in the many years it's been on, but the movie was pretty good. Just glad I didn't go to the theater to see it. DVR's are much more fun. I can pause, rewind, and talk through parts without missing anything :)
Had the interview earlier this week for the CMI position within my company. The interview went well, but there are a few qualified candidates and some have seniority over me, so if I don't get the job I won't be too upset. The positive side is they know what my qualifications are, so if this one doesn't happen, there will be others in the future. In the meantime, I know what I need to learn so that when the next position opens, I will be even more qualified.
Anthony is excited. One more week of school before he gets a week off. And we got a form home yesterday about him bringing a "baby" home. It's for his FCSI class (we used to call it home ec, but it's more than that now). He will have to take care of a baby. It's computerized, but it will be his responsibility. He is not sure if he wants to do it or not, and frankly, I'm not sure either. But it would teach him some much needed responsibility (in general), will see what happens.
Somehow today, I did not go to the casino (although there's still time). I'm not sure why I'm not going (other than it's about 38 degrees out and in the house it's warmer). But the holidays are quickly approaching, and no sense in throwing money away on something that isn't a guaranteed payback.
Well, that's about it for now. TTFN!

Ted loses Stella!

What's in a title...
Welcome to Wednesday, and another exciting (ho-hum) post by me...the Skorpster! No that's not my new nickname, that's just my mood. I've been at work since 7:30am, it's now about 10:30am, and my work is about done. I have one set of orders to write after they are approved, and that's it. I'm hoping I can work from home this afternoon, but not sure if I'll get to. There's nothing on my calendar though. Will see what happens.
Watched Heroes last night. Had to...tried watching it Monday night but it failed miserably, so I paid attention last night. Very interesting. And now I'm confused again. What's to become of Hiro? Dunno! Will find out next week.
Have an interview tomorrow, which will not go well. I have to be enrolled in college in order to get this promotion, and I told my boss yesterday I have no intention of enrolling for January. I don't plan to start until September 2009. I don't even know why I still have the interview, but I do *shrug* Will give it my best, but not looking at it as an opportunity to do anything but brush up on my interview skills (look up and left when thinking and do not say hearing "Jeopardy" theme while doing it).
Thanksgiving is in 2 weeks. Anthony has that whole week off from school. He's so lucky. Ann and I both have the Thursday and Friday off. Black Friday shopping is up in the air. It depends on what Wal-Mart has on sale.
Well, that's it for now. Just an FYI, this is how I feel today...

Watched Heroes last night. Had to...tried watching it Monday night but it failed miserably, so I paid attention last night. Very interesting. And now I'm confused again. What's to become of Hiro? Dunno! Will find out next week.

Happy Saturday =)
Welcome back my friends, to a blog that never ends...
Sorry, been a strange day, even for me. Had to take Ann's car to Wal-Mart to get a flat tire fixed. While I was there, met a nice woman who was telling me to Google "Black Friday" to find out early what stores are running which deals. Well, last night I did that, and came across an ad for Wal-Mart having a sale TODAY! In that ad, they showed a Compaq laptop with a 15.4" screen for $298, and the sale started at 8am. I wasn't sure if the ad was real, but I had to be at the store early anyway, so I went. Sure enough, the sale was real. And that is what I now use to connect to the internet (from my COUCH!!). Gotta love wireless. Nice deal. Has Windows Vista, which I've heard horror stories about, but so far so good. Seems easy enough for me to navigate.
Anyway, I went to Pea Ridge this morning, and volunteered there. We completed a 17-mile fence in the park where a battle in the Civil War took place. It was a great experience, and now the fence is done. We didn't do the whole 17-miles, just about the last 3/4 of a mile or so. The event was sponsored by my company and the Boys & Girls Club was there as well. Those kids worked hard, some of the logs we used to build the fence were very heavy. They were great!
And now I sit here, on my couch, playing on the internet :) It seems my friends are having a great time together with the families. This makes me happy. I will get updates next week, hopefully. TTFN!

T.G.I.F. (toes go in first)
Happy Friday (I hope). Two of my friends get to see one another along with their families this weekend, which is great! I hope they have a great weekend together.
Got good plans for the weekend. Today is the weekly trip to the car dealership to pay my loan. Only have a few short months left on this, then time to decide if I want to trade her in or keep her for awhile. She gets 27-miles per gallon, and even though gas prices have hit $1.93 she hasn't given me any problems, and runs great. So there's no power windows or cruise control. Makes driving more challenging.
Tomorrow I will be at the Pea Ridge National Park helping finish building a fence. It is an all day event, sponsored by the company I work for. Looking forward to it. There will be a dedictation ceremony afterwards, which should be fantastic.
Sunday I get to take the bleachable clothes to the laundromat. Washing machine putting stains on them something awful. Should look into a new washing machine, but will wait until after the holidays (ie: tax refund).
Have a great one everybody! TTFN!

Of course.....
Well, yesterday was Election Day. It was also my birthday. As much as I tried to be quiet about it, my co-workers had a cake for me. That was nice, until I went to blow out the candles. Please note, I just had a cigarette. I blew the candles but 3 of them would not go out. Hell, I have to quit smoking. Then I blew again and one went out. The other 2 stayed lit. OK, I REALLY have to quit now. Then 2 candles lit back up! TRICK CANDLES! Bad joke to play on the smoker! But got some laughs out of it. Good cake too!
Well, the idea of leaving work at 3 was just that, an idea. Like most of them that I have, they do not become reality. I left at 4:30, and spoke to my wife who was already there. She said the wait wasn't too bad, maybe an hour tops. Anthony was at a "lock-in" at school until 7, so we had time to vote, eat and relax before one of us went to pick him up. Got out of the polls at 5:45pm, got home, warmed up a slice of pizza and sat on my couch to watch an Islanders/Rangers hockey game.
After the 1st period was over, Ann went to get Anthony. When she got him, he told her he hurt his finger during gym, and that was 8 hours earlier. Before they got home, I put my jeans and a clean shirt on, knowing where I would be during the 3d period of a great hockey game. Sure enough, I took one look at his finger, it was swollen, and off we went. The good thing is, it's only a slight sprain, so we have his finger wrapped with another (they call it the buddy system).
Great birthday huh? Leftover pizza, missed the BEST period of a great hockey game. Oh, there was one good thing. The nurse that came in to the room to x-ray Anthony's finger! WOW!! Made the whole trip worth while. Before you judge me, I told the wife. She laughed. She knows me all too well.
Today, we have a new president-elect. Barack Obama. I wish him the best, and hopefully the government incoming will be able to not screw us the way the government outgoing has been doing for the past few months. Not going to debate this with anyone. I'm just glad Arkansas passed the lottery bill. I didn't like having to drive 25 minutes to play powerball, that I only spent $5 on anyway when the jackpot was high.
Well, that's about it for now. More work heading my direction. TTFN!

Monday's.....
Well, it's the start of another week, and this time it's the start of a new month: November. Thanksgiving is 24 days away, and that means a 4-day weekend (except for those of us who work from home), black Friday for shopping (I can't wait to get up at 4:30 am to do that one again), and basketball, hockey and football seasons are in full swing. I don't watch basketball, but I think college games go then also, don't they? WOO PIG SOOIEE! Go Arkansas!
Going to enroll for college this week. Finally got the kick in the asteroid I need to get motivated and actually do this. There goes 9 years of my life (that's for an associates!).
I have to keep this short. Orders will be coming through soon, and I am the only CSA here. My counterpart went to deliver a baby. OK, she's the coach, but you get the idea. Remind me one day to post about the day my son was born. Interesting story (for me...for my wife it was a different story).

November 1st....
I went to Wal-Mart this morning, like I do every Saturday morning, to do the grocery shopping. I was in an especially good mood because yesterday, we had all of FOUR trick-or-treaters, and my wife bought 3 bags of candy! More for me not to be able to chew. PLUS, my son went with a friend to a Halloween party at the church on the corner, and they were back 10 minutes later, because they didn't find it enjoyable (it's aimed towards younger kids, they are both 14). So, they decided to trick-or-treat themselves. There's another 1/2 pillowcase of candy there. More I can't eat WOOHOO!
Anyway, while strolling through the grocery store....wait, who am I kidding? I RUN through it. Get shopping done in 14 minutes or less, it's wonderful...I tune my ears in to listen to the overhead music playing. What do my ears here? Christmas music. Look y'all. I know we're into the "season" but it's 75 degrees here today, not even a cloud in sight, never mind a snowflake. It's a bit TOO early to think about Christmas. Let me get through Election Day at least! But noooooo.
So what do I do? I tune it out. HA! You thought I was going to say I started singing along. No way! Don't want to think about Christmas until black Friday (went last year, had a blast!). That is the best day to shop. The stores open at 5am, so I leave my house around 4:45am, get a good parking spot way in the back, and when I get in the store, scout for the shortest lines. Most people are going for the "popular" gifts, so I avoid those at all costs. Why? Manufacturers have more, and the closer you get to the holiday, the cheaper those items get. Smart huh? Eh!
Well, that's it for now. Arkansas plays Tulsa in 35 minutes, and I have to get my lunch before the game so I can watch it the old fashioned way....on the radio. No way I'm paying $34.99 to watch it on Pay-Per-View. That's Denny's for three (which we may do tonight *smile*). TTFN!

Happy Halloween
BOO! Ha Ha! Gotcha didn't I? Oh. You weren't scared huh? Not even a little? Shucks. I'm as bad at this as I am at cornhole. Lost another game this morning. Had a little light shine through the darkness, but in the end, I swerved right and left, and missed it completely.
It's Halloween, and I'm sitting at work. It's the end of the month, where things are a little crazy for some. Lots of date changes to be done to orders, so that's where I come in. I'm the unofficial "official" date changer of orders, whatever that means right? It means if they yell I listen.
Everybody have fun tonight, everybody Wang Chung tonight! I'll be on the computer or watching TV. TTFN!

Hump day.....
It's a normal Wednesday for me. Work is slow (actually it's lunch time, why am I here?), so hopefully going to get to play some cornhole later. It's a great game if you never heard of it. It's like horseshoes, except with beanbags, and boards with a hole instead of posts. It's lots of fun.
Asked my wife if she wanted the quilt on the bed last night. She thought about it, said it would warm her up early, then suffocate her later. So the quilt stayed off. That's OK. Next few days going into the 70's, lows in the 40's, so we'll survive. No snow here!
I should go eat lunch huh? What do I want? I had tuna yesterday, tonight for dinner I don't know what we're having. Chicken sounds good, but I'm kinda in the mood for mexican food. Just nobody here to go with. Could go to the chinese buffet, but rather wait until next week when it's not as warm out and I enjoy the hot food to warm me up inside, make me feel all cozy and cuddly like (yes, I'm nuts!).
Have a great day! TTFN!

Time to brag....
Just got back from my son, Anthony's, last cross-country meet of 2008. Today was another 2-mile trek, with haybales and logs to go over, hills everywhere, and a number of schools represented. To this point, his best time for a 2-mile course has been 16 minutes 33 seconds. Well, I have to put this in big bold type:
14 minutes 41.6 seconds
Yep! That's my boy. Saves the best for last. I am very proud of him. Now, some would say that 7 minute plus miles are not that great. And under normal circumstances, it isn't. But this child has only been doing this since the start of September. Training every day (except weekends), and has never run distance before. So, for a 14-year old in his first year, that's GREAT!! WOOHOO!!
Now it's time to eat, so going to go. TTFN y'all!

Welcome one and all....
I don't know why, but here I am. Posting anything and everything that comes to mind. I am sitting at work, it's 3:22 pm, and I am listening to Pandora Radio. The work is done for the day, and I am leaving in 45 minutes to go watch my son run his final cross-country race of the season.
My son is not the best runner on the team, but that's OK. It's his first year. And he's been running 2-miles or more every weekday. I even have him run in the evening when the practices are cancelled in the morning to keep him ready for the race. He likes it, and has not complained at all about having to wake up before 6am to get to practice. In the spring, hopefully he will still enjoy it and join the school track team. He is not good for sprints, but he is good for distance.
Would post more, but not much going on right now. I have a digital camera, so will hopefully get to put some pictures on here. Then you can see who's posting. Of course, then I'll probably lose you as a reader, but hey, I'm willing to risk it. Hopefully you'll like what you read and keep coming back regardless. Until then....
